MCAA Adopts Middletown Access Points

The Middletown Coastal Access Alliance (MCAA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rhode Island’s Coastal Resource Management Council (CRMC) and the Town of Middletown to “adopt” our local rights-of-way (ROWs) to the shore.

Under the terms of CRMC’s Adopt-an-Access program, MCAA commits to monitoring each ROW at least monthly and conducting at least two clean-ups per year.  The Town of Middletown is responsible for any necessary maintenance and helping remove trash.

MCAA is seeking volunteers to help with monitoring and clean-ups.  Monitors will be able to use an online form to quickly note conditions and even upload photos of conditions at each ROW, including signs of storm damage, vandalism, and litter.

MCAA will also organize clean-ups as needed – stay tuned for details of our upcoming clean-up in June at Dunlap-Wheeler Park, ROW Y-9.
